Now that the academic year is coming to a close, it's time to look back on the challenges of the past 18 months and celebrate the dedication and resilience of those working in alternative provision. At our Annual Conference back in 2019, we announced the PRUsAP Awards to specifically recognise the work of our sector, and the individuals who make a difference in the lives of our young people.
With last year's awards delayed by the pandemic, the inaugural PRUsAP Awards are finally here.
Annually, there are four awards, open to nominations from the AP community:
AP Practitioner - Teacher 2021
AP Practitioner - Support and Intervention 2021
AP Leader 2021
AP Team 2021
Additionally, each year we will present a Services to AP Award, to an individual who, throughout their career, has made a continued and significant impact on the lives of young people and who has championed the work of the AP sector.
Your nomination must detail exactly why the individual or team should receive the award above all others - the awards will be judged on the strength of the nomination. There is a word limit, so use it wisely! Remember that nominees might not be known to the judges and therefore the details included in the nomination are crucial.
You may nominate in every category. Nominations will close on Monday 20th September and will be judged by a panel from across the wider AP and social mobility community. All nominees will receive certification from PRUsAP and the winners will be announced at this year's Annual Conference on the evening of 30th September. Who Can you Nominate?
AP Practitioner - Teacher 2021
Any teacher working in alternative provision in 2021 who has made a significant impact on the lives of young people.
AP Practitioner - Support and Intervention 2021
Any member of staff working in a non-teaching role in alternative provision in 2021 who has made a significant impact on the lives of young people.
AP Leader 2021
Any leader working at any level in alternative provision; the AP Leader Award is not limited to Headteachers and Senior Leaders. We expect to receive a wide variety of nominations from across the sector and across the leadership spectrum. The nomination simply has to make it clear how the nominee's leadership had a significantly positive impact on young people.
AP Team 2021
Much like the leader award, there is no limitation on the term 'team' in this category. Again, we expect to receive a wide variety of nominations from across the sector reflecting the varied and ever-changing nature of the work we do in AP. As with the leader award, the nomination simply has to make it clear how the team had a significantly positive impact on young people.
